Early morning (8am) Private Lesson. Amaze them with everyday beauty that you create yourself! In this class you will learn how to re-upholster dining room chair seats. These are the types of seats that are bolted from underneath the chair and can be removed. As they are not always used in dining rooms, some people call them slip-seats. Re-upholstering a slip-seat is a relatively easy way to change or refresh the tone and style of a room. Your instructor, Bernie Iven will demonstrate the techniques that will give your slip-seats a professionally upholstered appearance - the easy way. Bring your old slip-seats to class and with a bit of effort, they’ll leave class with a new lease on life! YOU’LL LEARN: • How to cut out your fabric and center fabric patterns • Padding strategies & how to cut out foam and Dacron • Stapling procedures and stretching techniques • Removing excess bulk and finishing corners • Troubleshooting pucker problems • Finishing with black cambric REQUIREMENTS FOR CLASS PARTICIPATION SLIP SEATS: You may bring up to eight slip-seats to class. Fabric Farms Interiors will provide a staple gun for use in class. After instruction, you will continue to work on your slip seats until finished. FOAM & DACRON: If you elect to replace your stuffing you will want to purchase your foam and Dacron before class begins. FABRIC: Bring your fabric to class. Fabric Farms Interiors carries the largest selection in Central Ohio. You’ll need: For one or two slip-seats: ¾ yard For three or four slip-seats 1 ½ yards For five or six slip seats 2 ¼ yards SUPPLIES: Bring a nice pair of sharp fabric scissors to class. Optional: Staple Puller & Singer Upholstery Basics Book. PREPARATION: The hardest part of the job is taking off the old fabric. You will need to strip your old fabric before class begins. This will make the class time-frame manageable. Class fee is paid at time of registration. No refund unless class is canceled.
