Class fee is $75 per student plus pattern and materials.
The class is 6-9PM for 2 days.
Roman shades are window treatments that can be raised
and lowered using a cord attached to a board and
usually run through rings attached to the back of
the shade. Roman shades can either be inside or
outside-mounted. In this hands-on class, you will
create and sew a roman shade for one window in your
home using M’Fay pattern #9219.
You will learn:
How-to measure your window; inside mount versus
outside mount; parts of a roman shade; how a roman
shade works; roman shade styles – flat (or basic),
hobbled, sheer, unlined, shaped hem; applying
decorative trim; toppers and valances and why they
are important; fabric and lining choices, and more!
What to bring to class:
• M’Fay pattern #9219 (available at Fabric Farms
Interiors)
• Precise measurements of your window
• A pre-measured board in the length you need
for either an inside or outside mounted shade. We
recommend a 1x2 board for inside mount, and 1x4 for
outside mount.
• Fabric and lining - we will be happy to assist
you in determining how much you will need.
• Your sewing machine (please be familiar with
the operation of your machine!)
• Your sewing basket which includes a rotary
cutter and/or scissors, pins and needles, thread,
seam ripper, etc.
Fabric Farms Interiors will provide an iron, ironing
board, cutting mat, and work tables for your sewing
machines.
Other supplies needed for your shade will be discussed
in class. Fabric Farms Interiors carries all the
supplies needed to complete your shade and supplies
can be purchased during class.
